If you come before the Norton MacAllister dates of July 24-26  there is a lot more you can do on your own. or maybe grab me or another cuz in the D and hang out. This is my Top Ten  favorite activities in the D says MargoFitness Trainer (Flossie Norton Grandmom) ONE Visit the Detroit section of the Wayne State University Campus bookstore aka Barnes and Nobles.  Then I go grab a vegan/fruit smoothie to go, but I sit for the lamb kabob and the gyros at  Epicurus (The entire Mediterranean/North African food thing is HUGE here because of the recruitment by the Big # automakers. There is even a Michelin starred Arabic restaurant here. ) Epicurus is at  111 west Warren at the south end of Wayne State University Eat  at   Epicurus and grab a beer  at   Jumbos  the oldest bar in Detroits old Cass Corridor  Jumbos Bar   3736 3rd St off Selden  48201 the last dive bar in  Cass Corridor which is home to Wayne ...

Hi Everyone, Your family in Detroit has been busy planning our next Norton McAlister Family Reunion 2020. If you haven't already done so please save these dates for our next reunion: July 24-26, 2020 in Detroit, MI.  The survey we sent out earlier in the years got very good responses (more than 70 plan on attending).We will be sending out the registration information and form, after the holidays. We hope you'll come a few days early and/or stay a few days longer.  Detroit has so much to see and do.  We'll be sending Bloggs about Detroit and our families history form time to time.  So... Digital survey results in a possible count of 63 people/ So a second survey with the prices and venues and activities will go out / and from there things get finalized / 32 out of 40 of you with e mails gave us great answers/ It is not too late to do the digital survey / I left the link open https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PHMJLW2 But it has to be done on a laptop not a phone (some glitch in the present format by Survey Monkey because it's not an app yet,).

Part one covers where Black Detroiters lived The following maps embedded here Are Historical  neighborhoods based on descriptions in old books.  Black people in Detroit were  Redlined  and were able to buy only from Jews who tended to buy in areas  bordering the Irish. "The subdivisions, one to twenty, are the plates of the Robinson and Pidgeon Atlas of the City of Detroit (New York, 1885).
